The ABC's of childhood

A is for our amazing kids.

B is for boys..... boisterous, brave, bouncy, busy boys.

C is for cuddles.  They don't last long, so enjoy them while you can.

D is for driving.  It's a full-time job being a taxi driver for the kids.

E is for energy, something they never run out of.

F is for friends.  Invite their friends over and you will always know what your kids are doing and who they are with.  Be the best house on the block.

G is for girls..... gentle, giggly, glorious, gorgeous girls.

H is for home, the best place on earth.  Fill it with laughter and peace.  

I is for independence.

J is for jokes, a staple with the school age crowd.

K is for kisses.

L is for love.  Love your kids for who they are and not what they do.

M is for meals, the never ending meals.

N is for night time, a parents reward at the end of a busy day.

O is for outings: the zoo, aquarium, the fair, the park.....

P is for poop, an important topic of conversation in the first few years.

Q is for quiet, which means trouble when you have a toddler.

R is for recess, the best part of school.

S is for sweets.

T is for toys, toys and more toys.

U is for understanding, something you will need more than once in your parenting journey.

V is for victorious.  Celebrate the victories in life.

W is for weekends, the time to bond and reset after a busy week.  

X is for extraordinary.

Y is for young adults, a sad but rewarding phase in a parent's life.

Z is for zany.  Be zany, and silly, for those are the moments that will be remembered 50 years from now.

Nanny burnout

Raising a reader

Every parent knows that reading to children is highly beneficial.  But just what exactly does it do? First off, reading creates a daily opportunity to bond with your child, one that will be cherished forever.  It is a time to get close, snuggle, explore new topics, and start interesting discussions.  Better yet, the more you read with your child, the better a reader they will become.   Reading offers an escape from reality, but also a wonderful way to learn more about our world.  Reading can teach children compassion, cultural appreciation, scientific wonders, and so much more.   When should I start reading to my baby?  As early as possible.  It doesn't matter if they are too young, or don't understand - the soothing tone of your voice will just be plain relaxing for them.  After a few months, your baby will appreciate looking at the brightly coloured board books you enjoy together.  Though these books may be short, create your own ...
